A draft from RPM 2009 Challenge.

The lyrics are strange and could easily be misunderstood, so let me help:

So – you have this bummed out fellow, the same one from my Alonetone ‘album in a day’ contest submission.

He’s wandering around without purpose, and ends up in a back alley that he didn’t even think existed - he comes across this smug, foul-mouthed grade-schooler who thinks he knows more than NASA, and has built a catapult to send people into interstellar flight, which he let’s the fellow use to escape his problems.

(Incidentally, the song name comes from Robert Goddard, whose birthplace is one town over from where I live.)
