Teddy Bear

All the bedtime stories have been told and you’re tucked in so tight. Your mother kisses you on the forehead and then turns out the light. So cozy in your bed with your teddy bear. Under the bed and in the closet there’s no monsters there.
Being left alone in the darkness with only the light of that crazy moon imparting life to the shadows that lurk in the corners of your room.
I’ll protect you, but only if you hold on tight from demons made of darkness that stalk the scary night. My button eyes can see their tenebrous forms. My fuzzy armor protects but only when I’m in your arms. My cotton stuffing turns into a valiant heart only when you’re here with me inside our blanket fort.
All the shadow creatures assemble laying seige upon your bed. Ghouls, ghosts and walking corpses wielding witchcraft of the undead. Forked tongues lick sharpest talons as they’re fingering their knives. A portal to hell in your bedroom spews killer bees and their hives.
With the rising sun of morning the demons crawl back to hell. And wafting from the kitchen come the sweetest smells. Before you run downstairs to breakfast tuck me gently into bed so my soft body can decompress in preparation for the night ahead.
