Having Trouble Composing and Producing

HI,

I’m having a hard time right making music. I’m so diverse in listening to all genres and now that I’ve gone solo again after being ina band… its like I lost my ways of even starting a new track. I’ve even limited myself to use only Ableton and learning production tips and stuff to start a new track but nothing good comes into the empty canvas. I used to make good music on Reason and Logic a couple years back but I used presets and teeaked them on my own. I try starting with a beat or pads and nothing, but I really want to make a track so bad that I’m happy with. Anyone have any advice as to do in a situation like this?

Any help will be apprecited.

Designer's problem

HI,

I used to be a GR fans. However, GRAW makes me feel quite uncomfortable, especially seeing so many bad comments on the game.I am a fair person and accept good and bad comments. I just have one question to ask ubisoft:In general, if I have a better config for my PC, say more RAM, I should have more features for a game. In GRAW, I just can’t understand why I have to install more RAM (1GB?!) in order to get a stable gunsight but less RAM makes it moving around. For simple logic, I think a stable gunsight use less RAM and simplier programming logic. If the above question holds, there must be a foundamental problem in the game design. One more point, keep on playing for a checkpoint after I get killed is really frustrating, though some people may think keep on walking over the same streets/scenes for many many times is a kind of fun.

Any help will be apprecited.

Steps of Making music?

I’ll try to answer briefly. “Mixing” is putting your separate tracks (like bass, drums, guitar, vocals) together in the way you want them heard. This is best done with neither speakers or headphones, but with flat-response monitors. Speakers usually color the sound, and most headphones do too, so you don’t end up with a reliable rendition of the way you want your song to be heard since YOU can’t even hear it exactly right.

Don’t let that stop you, though. Headphones are fine for “panning” tracks stereo left and right, and adjusting relative volumes. Speakers are fine for getting a close approximation of how the song will sound in the real world. In the absence of expensive monitors, use both.

“Mastering” usually refers to work done on the final song already mixed, to add depth, or power, or punch, or whatever final changes you desire. But you can (and usually should) apply these mastering techniques to individual tracks in the mixing phase. Then you can do a final master..

There are plenty of resources online even for people with limited experience. So learn as you go, and just make music.

Steps of Making music?

[deleted]

HI,

so i’m reasonably new to making music and i’m a bit confused of the steps you go through the process of making a song.So you make your song, using your headphones But then it comes to mixing and you have to use speakers?
i don’t really understand but everywhere i go people say definitely don’t use headphones when it comes to mixing. To be perfectly honest i’m not even too sure on what mixing/mastering are! So if someone could explain what mixing/mastering are and why you use headphones for making the song but speakers when doing other stuff, I
would be eternally grateful.

Any help will be apprecited.

Publish

Hey Robert, you are right, the notes/description is what will trigger it.

I will work on making it so that any admin/mod can un-spam a track easily. But if it keeps creating a problem, then we’ll have to remove it I guess! It has successfully caught a lot of spam…

Songs with my friend Arturo Rthy

Hello, Since many years we compose songs together with my friend Arturo Rthy . We both plays keyboards and guitars and I take care of drums programming as well. Arturo is writing the lyrics and is lead vocal and I make backing vocals. Song are in French (as we are French :o) but if you don’t understand french you may like the melody of the vocal and the whole music background composition. I uploaded 14 songs on Alonetone and will try to upload more tracks but otherwise you can discover 64 songs here : http://play.dogmazic.net/#albums.php?action=show&album=9729
