A piece that came a few nights ago in some experimenting with midi over wifi and using my fretless guitar as a controller and an electric piano patch from the app. I looped the parts of the piece live in to Mobius.
I like the minimalism of this. You do a lot with a very simple synthesizer. This is the sort of thing I could envision playing over a shortwave radio in the middle of the night, announcing the commencement of a number station or something.

I'm fascinated currently with alter'd tunings and I don't mean the altered open guitar tunings used in a lot of acoustic folk, celtic and instrumental guitar which I have done and they are all great and inspiring. I'm speaking of the alter'd…
This is a very lose response interpretation/nod of the hat to a fine piece by composer James Ross, his piece Finding a Diamond on a Muddy Road https://soundcloud.com/jrossmusic/finding-a-diamond that is stellar.
Some interesting sounds, Jim. I like the little slides at the ends of many of the tones. It builds nicely and the return of the single tone idea at the end works well. And thanks for the mention.
Kavin Allenson and I did a NinJam session the other night on a public server. Ninjam is a software which allows real time collaboration over the net. There are some public servers available which you often have 'guests' which you can choose…

First sounds from a deconstructed reconstructed guitar I started about a year ago. It was a Steinberger copy that I wanted to make fretless. That led to decided to strip it of all paint, electronics and rebuild as the parts and it were old…
Initially thinking about sounds I was hearing from David Lindley's amazing slide work that led me to record the cover earlier. Sat down to improvise something very still with some slide though action very low on this guitar so more racket.
Cover of the late great Warren Zevon and his song from Bad Luck Streak in Dancing School Play It All Night Long. I stumbled on to the song on YouTube this evening with a performance by the wonderful Dave Lindley along with GE Smith doing this…
Sound source is Miss Hackbrett, a zither-like device constructed by a friend from the remains of an old door. It includes a contact mic for easy amplification. There are two separate sets of (guitar) strings, one all metal, the other nylon. Apart…
the submission for the sound-in event Groove--- I have taken my voice and some synth samples mixed them in novations iPad app LaunchPad- so as using the voice samples in loops not too groovin but anyway---
Nice vibe btwn the sense of the ZZ guitar and then your own ambience and swells take over midway Kavin. Cool memorium as another icon from our time leaves us.
Another recording onto the MT4X cassette machine. This time the source was: Casio DH100 -> Roland SE-02 -> Behringer V-Amp2 -> Lexicon LXP-5. Due to various delays, it has the structure of a musical round based on a very simple melody…
Dead to the World
Just a shade
A specter, a ghost
No place amongst the society of perfect being!
Dead to the World
Alien, unwanted
Not here, unseen
Untagged, uncounted
Lost, unwanted, despised, no home, no place, no Soul!
Dead…
I keep thinking Wendy Carlos is an influence here till about 4 min and it becomes more modern. Noise filtering @6 min or what you are doing with the oscillator. Good work and interesting foray that is cool and nostalgia like.

How do you sleep?

Cool method and process, your personality still shows through the machines Jim ;) -KAvin
nicely exotic Jim!
Great sound top job
I like this. It's artistic and strange.
Nice mix of sounds
Great sound here Jim. Congrats on the Ride!
Pretty!
I have had days that could support a background track like this.

Nice one Jim!
Wow - that works. I didn't think it would for me (from reading the about), but I really liked it.
That's cool. Lots of layers. 3D.
Nice edit, Jim!
I like it! Cool vibe! Hypnotic!
Digging the ambience of this one, and its "outside the box" delivery.
I dig the you tune, pick and slide!
I dig that funky picking and low tuning! Really enjoyed what you did here. ROCK ON!

feels like under a shed out of a downpour and everything in the distance.
great sense of growing rhythm and a sound of strumming at times and electronic noise and then the wind... inventive Jim.
has a sitar like feel that sounds like going through a wahwah or some such. Like the edge of it K...

love the partial of the short loops - right down my present time of thought Chris.

That's great Kavin! Thanks for putting us together. Texture on what James is doing is haunting through, whole piece is a ritual!
Great jam Kavin and Stuart. Love the feel and setting from beginning slipping in thermin to the disintegration near the end. Good work fellas!
lovely space and color Ben.
Nice Jim - growing density of the loops becomes very natural.
Powerful and good groove, out of the dark much light!
Gosh! Uncanny feeling of Tangerine Dream Kavin!
James this is great. The close micing gives your sound and feel the haunt of the weekend. A natural compression.
Killer! I want one!
Love it - so glad you got a didjeridoo!

sounds very timely of his time - talkbox sounds and feeling vivid!
The opening granular sound is awesome descriptive and retro of the lost in space/star trek time.
infectious opening drone and east meets west vibe on this!
Kavin lovely textures on this throughout. Good work.
