WOMEN OF THE NIGHT

Psychedelic Folk song about growing up in the red light district, (not a biography… exactly)

WOMEN OF THE NIGHT (The Crimson Lace)

In the house where I was born
Came the men for wicked charms
Mama earned our evening meals
From those strangers in her arms

I was born this winter’s eve
In the house called Crimson Lace
Red lights lit the window sills
Advertising Mama’s place

Follow the red light, it’s such a tempting sight
Women of the night will tease you
‘Though it isn’t right, you want to hold them tight
Women of the night will please you

Now I’ve grown and done moved on
Running in the rodent race
Yet at times I see red’s glow
And recall the Crimson Lace

Nerves of steel and calloused heart
Ill-repute survival
Waiting for the night to start
Waiting his arrival

Eyes of ice and battered soul
Ill-equipped to handle
“Just today,” the daily goal
Time to light the candle

Saved!
