I’m not as good as I thought I’d be
I was young and led to believe
To take the writings at their word
Now I’m grown more lines are blurred

What was right is heinous now
It’s up to me to work it out
Want to keep and what to toss
If it’s God breathed, I’ll take the loss

What would it take to change the holy books?
You translations wouldn’t get a second look
And I wonder if it has been done before
If it has
Can we understand each other more
