The closer of the album. It only felt fair to give the guitar a turn with the tune.

I wanted to write a response to the happy-hobo songs that had been tormenting me (“King of the Road”, “Bummin’ Around”), and hit on this. It’s a little reflection and appreciation.

The second half of the theme to this album. Sit still too long and you become something else.

I wanted a loose nod to “Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues”, so I started it in the rain and ended it with returning to someplace I used to live. But then because of Bud Cort I thought the singer should inexplicably die at the end of each verse. This…

This is sort of a musical postcard for the Pacific NW. It’s among the goofier things I’ve made, and was pretty quick and dirty.

There is a built-in psychedelia when an inexpensive and out of tune ukulele is multitracked. This little ramble is built around tuning a five string banjo. Recorded straight to tape on a Tascam multistudo in 2012.

Track four from my 2012 RPM offering. It’s all acoustic instruments with no effects; the fake fuzz bass is a Pepe classical guitar played really close to the mic. Worth mentioning I guess that this was written and recorded some years before…

The third track from my 2012 RPM recordings. I wanted to have a recurring theme just like the Willie Nelson record at which I was nodding.

Recorded in 2006 in Ashland OR. This was meant to be the backing track for a more complete song, of which all I can remember is the line “All I want to do / Is get stoned and read Harper’s”. Recorded in an airstream trailer.

Recorded in 2001 in an empty apartment in Mesa AZ. The drum kit is a cardboard box and a tambourine. The guitar is an acoustic and I’m sure I had to do some workaround to get it to sound like this.
