Train-encounter

The train is late again
Im shivering on the platform
ten minutes of numbing cold
Its Pretty much the norm
I jump on aboard the train
Clumsily sit on down
Its An hour of boredom
Before we reach the town
I look across and see her
With her earl grey smile
Just too much lipstick
Been on for quiet a while
She looks like a Sophie
In sensible brown shoes
A pair that is used to
Standing in long queues
Ive never met you
But i know you oh so well
I can tell from one quick look
The world in which you dwell
Reading the papers stories
Tomorrows throw away news
A look of some expectance
No hiding from the blues
Checks to see who’s watching
Seeing what mark shes made
A sneer at a loving couple
Like a lover once betrayed
A metal shriek a slowing down
under the skies so grey
The platform 4 to our left
doors open on the day
She tuts, picks up her bag
Bins a sandwich wrapper
Sways into the distance
Like an auditioning actor.
Ive never met you
But i know you oh so well
I can tell from one quick look
The world in which you dwell
I can tell from one quick look
The world in which you dwell
