Water Raga
Metamere
I created my own stylophone app last winter using p5.js (https://openprocessing.org/sketch/1779333), and I added in a lot of exotic musical scales, which got me interested in Indian music and scales. For this song I used the Raga Sindhura Kafi in C, then switched to the Raga Sarasvati in F (which is a mode of the first), then switched back. I added a pitch bend feature to the app this week and practiced with it a bunch to get a feel for it. I tried out several options, but I liked the frequency range of the great bass recorder for this the best. I only have a basic sine wave output from the app for now, but I routed the phone’s audio through my Dreadbox Typhon to enhance it with some effects. The drone with the water/wind noise effect is a patch I made on my Korg minilogue xd. This was my second month in a row participating in the Record Every Month challenge (https://www.rpmchallenge.com/remchallenge). My song got skipped during the stream for some reason, but it’ll sound much better here anyways, so whatevs.
