fleeing from the metro station
to the streets unknown
the city left the lights on for her
but clearly no one was home

repeating like a cartoon sequence
skyscrapers spawn and ghost
to her defeat
the streets they take her back to
where she was meant to go

so here we are again
so off the beaten track
pick you path
pick your poison

so here we are
run away in fear
when every single road
leads right back here

I’m sure you know this by now
your place it is not here
said the letterman
envelope in hand
someday this will all disappear
