*barely audible
*static crackling
*I must try and defrag
*constant recalibration of
*the listening machine

(I sense a world of bits and bytes)
(Machine reverie hidden from our eyes)

(It’s all there for the taking)
but we could contribute to our unmaking

(crack the facade)
(split the atom)
(shatter the sky)

*the infrastructure’s failing
*the watchmaker has gone bailing
*and when left up to chance
*sad quarks withdraw from their atomic dance

*I can see it unraveling
*on the peripheries of the screen
*And this once stable baryonic reverie
*Has decompiled into a fever dream

<It’s too far gone now>
<To put all these pieces back together>

<I’ve become>
<a neglected toy>
<to someone else>

<It’s too fragmented now>
<So piecemeal>
<we can’t recover>

<Left with just>
<broken thoughts>
<and stuck on a>
<cluttered shelf>

*the door opens now
*I can finally see
*this is where the bodies are left to hide
*I get up slowly
*and slowly recede
*I’ve decided
*I’d rather remain inside
