Sparrow Crying

wave my hands into the sky
bird perched then lurched
to a sparrow’s cry

it defies my eyes
where does this sonar lie
the pings on strings
call like crumbs aligned

I try closing my eyes
the sound it still defies
its singing is bringing me
beyond merely seeing
(beyond mere sight)

this sound is found up in the sky
it surrounds confounds as it passes by

I’m lost in flight
echolocation frying
omnipresent singing
all my senses dying

This can’t be right
the vibrations lying
my ears keep ringing
to a sparrow’s crying
