Given Time

Given time, I’ll bet that even if I let you go you’ll come back to me.
No one else is quite the same,
Though I realize that’s not always a bad thing.

You know that it’s wrong,
To give it all you’ve got and still have nothing to show for it.
So I added it all up,
And if you really want me you’re going to have to own it.

And if that’s too much to ask, it’s okay.
I’ll get back.
But I think I’ve earned the right to speak my mind,
And so I’m trying.

Given time we’ll regret the stupid little things that always come between us.
And we’ll probably forget why any of it mattered in the first place,
Though I know it’s hard to see it now.

And maybe that’s too much to ask.
It’s ok, I had to try.
Because after all this time, I’d be an asshole to just say nothing..
