Dedicated to Stephen Butt Butt, my favorite person in all of Kentucky, a state which I once traveled through on a Greyhound bus in 1989. I’ll never meet him, but we did talk on the phone for an hour once, and I didn’t even masturbate.

I was living in Manhattan, a place I loved, with the best job I’ve ever had–mailroom clerk at a Japanese bank–until my girlfriend dragged me back to Los Angeles, a city I despise to this day. I got a good job there too though, doing the shipping for AMOK Books. And then another, being the assistant manager at a huge used bookshop in Glendale. Until some money went missing, and everyone blamed the junkie. Oops.
