The Mark of the Chains

In the mid 1800s the son (who became known by the title Bahá’u’lláh) of a prominent Persian nobleman began teaching about peace and unity, which was considered subversive and dangerous by the people in power at that time. He was incarcerated in an abominable dark prison and was restrained with large, very heavy chains. These chains left permanent scars on his shoulders, marks he bore for the rest of his life. This song is in his honor.
