It’s a hard, hard world full of pain and misery
Sometimes I don’t think I can take it,
Oh Lord, have mercy on me!
Seems like everywhere I look
Death and danger are near
People dying in the streets
People living in fear.
There’s rape & war & murder
There’s hate & crack cocaine
There’s hunger, AIDS & cancer
Christ, it’s driving me insane
Yes it’s a hard hard world full of pain and misery
Sometimes I don’t think I can take it,
Oh Lord, have mercy on me!
On the road before the sun’s up
Work at home ‘til late at night
And I still can’t get it all done,
You know something’s just not right!
Yes, it’s a hard, hard world full of pain and misery
