I started with a MIDI file created by seeding the “Meta-Composer” Poodles & Flan with the word “Memory,” and then fed it to three virtual VST instruments: Tweakbench Carillion & Tapeworm, respectively a Bell Modeling synth & Mellotron emulator, and Sam’s Chip32 8-bit wavetable synth; I stretched this out & pitch shifted it to make the basic melody of the piece. Next, I took the MIDI file & fed it though Tweakbench’s Toad NES Drum, and then stretched, ran through a Plate Reverb emulator and then a Ring Mod. The lyrics were fed though the default Microsoft Text to Speech engine, and then stretched, compressed & amplified.
