Ever After Chinese version
helenefung
I re-interpreted my friend Mia J Park’s (http://www.reverbnation.com/miajpark) ballad Ever After (originally in English) into Chinese, and sang it as a demo for her.
This song is in Cantonese. Chinese lyrics can be found here:

English translation:
I naively believed that princesses always get beautiful endings
So I loved deeply, but also hurt strongly
Believed in happy ending but didn’t realise in real life love can diminish
Love can fade as years and months go by… yeah
Love is fading away…
But I still believed, today’s sad dialogue
is a eulogy for our deep love and strong hurt
There’s no happy ending, have to accept that love can diminish
Love is slipping away…
Looking at your silhouette makes my heat secretly hurt
Only yesterday feelings were intense and love was touching
But you brushed me off and said you don’t miss me any more
Then why do you still bother me
We should’ve parted ways earlier
It’s your tearful eyes that make my heart very hurt
Only in the past we were a couple sweet like honey
But you should let me go, say you don’t love me any more
Why do you still hold me, why not just walk away
Please don’t remember the times that have passed
Face the reality now that there’s a wall between us
Please don’t remember in your heart any more
It’s not the same as before
If you care about me, you should release me
Underlying emotions make me lose control of my thoughts
Looking calm on the outside but inside my heart is sinking
But you should not still linger on and say you want to see me again
Why do you still kiss me, why not just walk away
‘Cos we lost our way and I can’t stand it
‘Cos I thought we’d last forever last forever
If there’s gonna be no tomorrow then let’s live it all today
Before we walk away
Just walk away… hey…
To me, it's one of those songs that you can only truly connect with once you been through it. Brilliantly translated and beautifully sang..
I adore the languages of other cultures. You have made this song in Cantonese sound so special. Absolutely beautiful!
Pure!
