Counted Our Splinters (Daily Two 7.22.25)

They turned the old house into rubble with my memories inside
Picture frames still hanging, glimmer still in your eyes
I think of all the parties that we used to throw
Glitter clung to the baseboards like new fallen snow

And I’m wishing for winter again
Oh, I’m wishing for winter again

They knocked down the playground where we cut our teeth
Counted our splinters, bruised up our knees
You gave me my first kiss on the tire swing
The dogwoods were blooming, it was the first day of spring

And I’m praying that summer won’t end
Oh, I’m praying that summer won’t end
