Marco Polo
JV & Veejay
JV Andres - vocals, guitar
Veejay Andres - vocals, piano
I say, “Marco.” You say, “Polo.”
I’m trying not to peek.
There’s barely a sound when you yell from under water.
How can I find you if I can’t hear you speak?
Cootie germs, homework terms,
A bully’s mean, and scary dreams,
A broken toy, a crying boy,
Bicycle theft, a teacher left,
Parents yell, a tattle tell,
Made fun of my name, picked last for the game.
And all of these things are water droplets in a fog.
Take my hand.
I’ll be your eyes when you can’t see where you’re going.
Hear me out.
My words will show you the land that I am seeing.
Empty nest, Clear my desk,
Racial slurs, The garden’s curse,
A highway wreck, a bouncing check,
Defaulting loan, a nursing home,
My teen rebels, break room tales,
They laugh in my face, alone in my place
And all of these things are water droplets in a fog.
