Dwelling On

The smell of wine sweetly passes, bittered by her breath
Those lies weaving twisted thoughts deep into your head
That life is better traveled where no other thoughts have lead
But life may live to deceive

Curtain drawn, her hair let down, her thoughts behind closed eyes
As dawn turns from night and reaches up to rise
The day and you think there is no other way to try
But days have ways to deceive

Don’t rely on memories
Dwelling on can be a deadly disease
And life holds for you some better things

Desperate cry, trembling lips exclaiming while you sleep
No, I can’t help you now, you’ve fallen in way too deep
To climb but maybe someday you will come to see that we
Were always “us” and always meant to be
