This is a song about those thoughts that you wish you wouldn’t have, and which take you away… In medicine I think it’s called limbic hijacking, and it’s documented that the fits last more or less the same as a movie teaser :)

I tried to give the vocals a solemn, Bowie-esque feel (David Bowie’s compositions don’t say much to me, but I like his vocal style and stage persona).

Another classic influence in the lyrics is Shakespeare’s adage ‘to thy own self be true’.

The guitar interlude surely comes from ‘Cat’s in the Cradle’, which I knew in the Ugly Kid Joe version -I’m dating myself here-, plus a snippet from one riff in ‘Lola’ by The Kinks, all scrambled and taken out of context like good artists do :p
