Jack O' Lantern
Orphans
Jack O’Lantern
(boudreau10/12/16)
Well that Jack O’ Lantern he’s just an empty-headed soul
He’s got fire on his breath and his eyes are just couple of holes
And skin as tough as leather and that busted up smile
But soon to be forgotten just left there rotten near the ol’ wood pile
Woah-wo, woah-wo, woah- wo-woh
I hadn’t seen ’em all summer, he must go underground
But don’t get me wrong, brother, I sure don’t need him around
And when the leaves start turning and the days are getting short
I wake up on a crisp, cool morning find him hangin out on my front porch
So tell me Jack O’Lantern, can you save your own soul?
Have you tricked and treated all the innocence that you stole
Some say you’re just a beacon gonna guide us all home
But I believe on this All Saints Eve your reasons are still unknown
Just like those birds of summer, ol’ Jack he disappears
Without a trace he leaves this place and no one even aware
And when it’s time for Thanksgiving and we let his legend lie
I just kick back and honor Jack with a slab of sweet Pumpkin Pie
So tell me Jack O’Lantern, can you save your own soul
Have you tricked and treated all the innocence that you stole
Or are you just a beacon protecting the home
But I believe on this All Saints Eve your reasons are still unknown
Reminds me a little of the Undertones. Good job guys!
