This is about my dear mother-in-law. I recorded it in October of 2016. I recorded the guitar and main vocal together and dubbed the harmony afterwards. There is also a subdued keyboard part in the background.

HUMMINGBIRDS AND BUTTERFLIES

No more tears, no more alone
Soon my Lord, I’ll be home
’Tis the End of Days
And for You I wait

From the edge, my world is grey
Once bright colors, now they fade
One foot in, one foot out
‘Tis Faith no more when there’s no doubt

Hummingbirds and butterflies
Memories of love and life
The veil torn, and in the Light
The promise of eternal life

Empty eyes, a vacant stare
Where are you when you’re not here?
So hard to see you slip away
But then return another day

Memories of days gone by
Images they flood my mind
Winter came oh so fast
Those summer days weren’t made to last
