The Seed
Paul Lisney
This was written about my mother’s passing - about a week or so after she died.
The Seed
Pierced by grief, my heart is wounded
Loss of a love so deep and true
Into the wound a seed is planted
Broken by love; By love, renewed
Bleak and cold, these days of winter
Where is the love that summer knew
Autumn has passed, its beauty enthralling
Whispering, “Child, you’ll be with Me soon”
There is no end, only the veil is lift- ed
Hidden for now, but one day, to be revealed
A Promise was made by God, our loving Father
The Promise fulfilled by Jesus, His only Son
Deep in our hearts, the seed that was planted
Carries the Love that our loved one knew
Though bittersweet, the Love is abiding
Warming cold hearts and bearing fruit
