Early on, after we recorded the first couple of takes of Leum’s song, Silence is Sound, Nick and I chatted about Leum’s request for somebody to replace the guitar part on the song. I thought about maybe using my baritone and/or 12-string hollowbody electric, while Nick listened back to the playback a couple of times and started working on a lovely fingerpicked acoustic interpretation.
We ended up using a couple of strummed acoustic guitar tracks for the “final” version of Silence is Sound, but I thought Nick’s piece was too pretty not to use, so I played around and added MIDI cello and bell parts using a couple of free VSTs from the excellent LABS collection from Spitfire Audio. (Free!)
I’m happy for this sweet little lullaby to end the album on such a serene, gentle note. Thanks, Nick!
