Straw
TerriEllen
Straw can be light and golden yellow
Is often used to stuff our pillows
Straw is the hay you see in the fields
All those hay bales give good feels
The scarecrow of Oz was made of straw
though his brain held nothing at all
Dorothy held his hand down the yellow brick road
With the tin man and lion as it’s told
Spinning straw to gold was the girl’s task
A little man did it for just a small ask
She gave what he wanted so he’d spin
But she won when she named him Rumpelstiltskin
Troubles of life can be like straw
Just a few are easy to carry, no trouble at all
But as time goes, they can really pack
Before you know it, one will break you back
Take life one day at a time, don’t borrow trouble
Worry about next week makes the load double
Today’s load of straw is enough to carry
Take your rest at night and cease your worry
