The Silent Stones

Written for the 2018 FAWM challenge. Another song written from a random title generator. Silent Stones, it evoked the imagery of Stonehenge and the history of it. Weird where my brain can go off to on just two words. But it worked and I like this one.

The Silent Stones used to sing
They told stories of many things
Now they stand in a field of green
Long awaiting their awakening

They used to come from far and near
To know the future without the fear
They told their stories in sweet melodies
Never knowing if they took heed

The future can be known
Sang those silent stones
But it comes with a choice
In how to use your voice
So sing it loud and clear
Bring the others near
Tell them every voice
Always comes with a choice

They stopped coming one fine year
The silent stones came to be feared
All the voices were now stilled
Silence now flowed across the fields
