Winter Incarnate

This one was written during winter 2013, there was actually a snowstorm at the end of March in Durham, UK. The only way I could resolve myself to the weather was to “embrace the cold”, to mentally think that I was physically cold inside, so that the cold outside did not matter. At the same time I was listening to a lot of black metal drinking beer in a dark, cave like room. I wanted a really medieval, black metal sound to this one. Lyrical themes are standard TCP fare, a wronged individual gets back at those who exiled/judged him. The subject of the song is actually a king whose counsellors turned against him and banished him from the kingdom. In his quest for vengeance he loses his humanity but then he reflects on this, remembering his wife from ages past, when he was once able to…love. Now what has he become? A powerful ubermensch but dead inside. Though he may defeat his enemies, they have won by turning him into them. Oh yeah, my vocals are totally out of tune in places, I was like fuck it, it’s punk at the time.
