Bursting Bubbles

Written/Recorded for RPM2017 (album in a month).
I won’t pretend this isn’t a weird one. The rhythms right with one another, the harmony is unsettling, and towards the end it points towards the next song on the album, in a quite electronic sound. Of (moderate) interest, the tuning of all the synths, guitars and so forth are about a quarter tone sharp. That was a bit annoying, when I realised mid way through making it.
It shares the name ‘Bursting Bubbles’ with an e.p. my band made, some years ago. The imagery here should be those super slow-mo popping of balloons. We can still see the form, long after the path to destruction is inevitable.
Can’t you trace the lines upon my hands and conclude
We’re facing no chance
Can’t you hear the beating of my heart in my chest
And guess what it means
It seems our bursting bubbles
Captured on a fast film slowed to show they’re scared to lose their shape as they tear
So where do we go from here?
Can’t you see
You shadow of the person that I want to be
And can’t you take the hint
Abruptly interrupted by a token spoken word
Hidden beneath a cough
Often our bursting bubbles float away before the pin goes in
And the fragile skin remains intact for now
And how do we go from here?
