RPM Challenge 2021
Category: Single (this is the A side)
Genre: Surf

The 2021 RPM Challenge was indeed a challenge and I only signed up to record a single! My month was fraught with problems, mostly having essential gear go south (mixing board was the biggie) and hearing issues (increase in tinnitus). So despite being nearly three weeks behind before I even got up and running, I was able to complete my challenge. I have to give big time props to Emily Gould and Matt Hayes for bearing with me and getting their contributions in under the gun.

Singles to me were always 7-inch 45 RPM vinyl records, so it made sense to me to do two sides. Since both tunes were equally good in my ears, I decided to borrow from Cheap Trick’s first album and call one side A and the other 1 (you can decide which is which).

“Tubed” is another way of saying the surfer got covered up by the wave as it curled over. A real good way to get stoked. Or wipe out.

Great surf-rock double single! This one reminds me of "Cecilia Ann."
