Moody's Missing
Robert Palomo
Sometimes the oddest things inspire a song. This one, about a long-time friend and former bandmate, a consummate musician, who passed away suddenly last year… just leaped out after I read a Facebook post where a couple of mutual friends had posted remembering him. One comment was simply: “Something’s missing. It’s Moody.”
That’s all it took, and this just came to the surface. Couldn’t concentrate, couldn’t work, couldn’t go to bed until I’d got it laid down and mixed. What I don’t believe this morning is the combination of clawhammer banjo and grand piano. It shouldn’t work, but it does.
OK, it may be a sentimental corny tune. But I like it. Hope you do too.
UPDATE:
After input from various quarters, the track is updated with some de-essing, and a touch of acoustic guitar and mandolin towards the end.
UPDATE 2:
Attempted remastering with Ozone 5 software. Maybe it’s better. Maybe not.
well done... nice tribute!
A Very touching tribute to your friend. I like the simplicity of it, and the later addition to the piano. Well done . . . This is first class!
Pulled a tear out of my old ornery hyde, Real fine job Robert.
