Summer Becomes Autumn
Metamere
It started as an attempt to make a dream-pop song, but it evolved into a purely instrumental piece with three movements. I felt a need to make something more pleasant and peaceful this month, and to spend as much time as I could immersed in that feeling. I had a fun time using all three of my hardware synths. The Deluge provided the marimba and harp with its DX7 engine along with the miscellaneous symphonic percussion, the xd covered the symphonic strings, and the Typhon provided the erhu sound, which I played using a midi controller with channel aftertouch and a pitch bend touch-strip. I recorded all the sequences into the deluge live part by part, and then adjusted the timings extensively. The first sequence I built up more manually once I figured out the basic rhythm. I used Audacity to make the transitions smoother and tighter, to mellow out the erhu a bit, and to adjust levels, panning, and eq. I’m happy with how it turned out.
