Mom
Alex Dionisio
My mom
What you love most is being our mom
Forces against it seem to pull you down
Out the nest, we still needed our mom
You said I loved to cuddle
I love you more than the stars
Know when you slip away, you’ll never leave where we are
Here always strong
Always did us right from timeouts to birthdays around
I’m struck with how you did anything to work your way around us
Surrounded us as lunch-lady, security guard, or should I say West High hallway monitor
We came back home
So devoted and oh so doting, having food and clothes for us
Still you showed us tough love
So if something went wrong, we handled it proud
So in awe
Hard-working does not begin to describe about it
You followed onward
As long as you’re good, we’re good
As long as we’re good, you were, are
Can you be gone?
Just know when your shell leaves, I always knew how much we meant to you and you to me, us
Love you, mom
