In 1969 an experiment was devised
20 babies were kept alive
All alone

They gave them food and kept them warm
But kept them away from everyone

As the years passed, they all turned gray and died

I am the only one who survived

They tested me until I turned 13 and then released me to a world I’d never seen and studied my reactions to the stimuli

No one tells me what’s going on but they record and dissect my every fault
I can feel the pressure of their eyes

I am the only one who survived

There are days when I look back and I long for the lab
Simple problems and tests I understand

Though their conclusions are drawn, I’m still trying to prove them wrong
But I think I am failing
