Keoki
Brian J. Kenny
“This song is real. I had this nagging sense that I needed to
write a song about it and I kept dragging my feet. It came out at the
end of the first recording session, lyrics only. Very painful and very
powerful to write: it was a cosmic moment.” - Brian J. Kenny (Notes to self)
“Writing this one required digging deep and the digging left a mark, the balm for which was the solo. I still can’t play the music I hear in my head but I sometimes really like how it sounds in the speakers.
Like the song says, this was a spooky experience. Not a bad one, just a deep and slightly confusing one. I was trying to channel Nate Dogg and Warren G on this one. Just reprasenting da regulators.
I crossed paths with Keoki, at a hale out in Hana Bay. It was a haunting memory and it gave me a strange jolt, but I’m paying it forward today.” –Brian J. Kenny (post-session notes)
