I had been reading about the testing of the atomic bomb, which was directed by J. Robert Oppenheimer. The approach to its development was so scientific and clinical, and it struck how much of an emotional tirade Oppenheimer must have experienced after Nagasaki and Hiroshima, coming face to face with the consequences of his well-intentioned endeavour. I tried to write some music to convey that.
