I'll tell me ma

I’ll Tell Me Ma is a folk song in the Irish tradition. I recorded it with acoustic instruments, multiple vocal tracks, and spoons for the main percussion, to give it that kitchen party feel!

I did it in the key of C. Not exactly normal, but it was best for me.

CHORUS
I’ll tell me ma when I come home
the boys won’t leave the girls alone
they pull me hair and stole my comb
well that’s alright till I come home
She is handsome she is pretty
she’s the belle of Belfast city
she is a-courtin’ one-two-three
please won’t you tell me who is she

Now Albert Mooney says he loves her
and all the boys are fightin’ for her
they’re a-ringing at the door and a-knockin’ at the bell
saying oh my true love, are you well
out she comes as white as snow
with rings on her fingers and bells on her toes
old Johnny Murray say’s she’ll die
if she doesn’t get the fellow with the roving eye
CHORUS

Let the wind and the rain and the hail blow high
and the snow come a-tumblin’ from the sky
she’s as nice as apple pie
and she’ll get own own b’y by and by
when she gets a b’y of her own
she won’t tell her ma till she comes home
let them all come on as you will
it’s Albert Mooney she loves still
CHORUS

Made me want to take two shots, grab a blue eyed Irish girl by the arm and pull her onto the dance floor with me. I enjoyed it very much.
