Hornist, composer, and performance clinician LYDIA LOWERY BUSLER began her performing career at age 16 with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and composing career at the same time writing for high school dance troupes. Lydia has since performed with the New York City Ballet, Brooklyn Philharmonic, José Limón Dance Company, and Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, as well as holding the position of Solo Horn with the Rome Festival Opera.
Lydia’s works are played all over the world and she has a steady influence from the classic chamber and orchestra and opera world, but her performances bend almost entirely to the improvisational these days.

A new recording called Music for Women with violinist Elmira Darvarova and hornist Howard Wall was released with Lydia’s work in May 2020 on Affetto/Naxos. Appalachia is being recreated by female powerhouse Mary Beth Orr on stage at Carnegie and in video.
