Shellprint

When we had finally captured the raven
Caught the raptor and made her our pawn
We headed out of that No Man’s Land
and traveled straight through until dawn

but the shrapnel had dug deep inside me
fiery phosphor held fast by the fawn
in the twilight, the ghouls were a’grinnin’
by the time we reached home, I was gone

so I took my resistence at Westhaven
The thornbirds were singing on the lawn
I built the smallest of castles in the sand
and left the shell-print of my hand

And it matters not my home
as it matters not my wealth, my darling
and it matters not my home
and it matters not my home

Nowadays, I give pause to the serpents
when the darkness does sympathy spawn
and the traitorous raven does show
her respect from the dusk ’til the dawn

And the lady-in-waiting is silent
with a certainty sold over-long
Such a slavish devotion to virtue
surely could do her no wrong

One day we will ride out in glory
on full cavalry, with the fox and the fawn
we’ll meet Brie and Jack near Britannia
and join Alexander in song

And it matters not my home
as it matters not my wealth, my darling
and it matters not my home
and it matters not my home

Props to my peeps, I’m talking to you, John Mattie.

Special thanks to G & Jer.

Word to Julio and the Vilamil clan.

World War Nine does an a capella version of this, with Toby Luscious on vocals.

I tried not to like this - I'm not keen on the vocal but dang, it's another great song!
