I’d be glad to let you love me
C
if you’ll just hold me for a while
D
You could take your time and linger

I will not demand a smile
G
I’d be glad to let you touch me
C
If you’ll just hold me for a while
D
I’m hungry like a woman
C G
But I’m lonely like a child

D C G
Children die when they’re lonely
D C G A B
Women cry, you know, they’re only human
C G
My, oh my oh my

You don’t have to talk or listen
You can forget me when I’m gone
But tonight I need somebody
Who is looking for someone
I won’t ask you for tomorrow
I won’t ask you for your name
You don’t have to try to please me
I know that would be a game

Children die when they’re lonely
Women cry, you know, they’re only human
My, oh my oh my

You don’t have to try to please me
If you’ll just hold me that will do
Just to know I’ve been your pleasure
Is all I ask of you
So, come on while I am able
To control my bitter fears
I can hear my heart is pounding
As it’d drownding out the tears

Children die when they’re lonely
Women cry, you know, they’re only human
My, oh my oh my

We had just arrived in Texas from Oregon. We parked our bus/house in Barbara’s parent’s back yard. In the evenings I would go out looking for music. One night, at The Leather Ball Saloon, I found a trio called Calico. As I sat, listening, I saw a guy with a motorcycle helmet sit down beside a lone girl. Within a minute or two she rose and left with him. It took my breath away.

Roland Brown Sorry to hear about Barbara. Texas Water was as good as you say. I’m thinking about adding “I’ll Be Glad to Let You Love Me” to our band’s set list.

For years and years and years... this was the only JMT album I owned... this was the only JMT album that I knew existed; and this has always been one of my "most favorite" songs... not just one of my favorite JMT songs... one of my most favorite songs ever. I loved Barbara's voice and her timing and her range... and how she sang the song so... realistically. It was as if she and I were actually having this exchange in some noisy crowed smoke filled lounge. I never meet Barbara in person... but I knew her for years and years and years, Bye' Barbara... you are remembered.
