FANNON COUNTY FAIR 1976 - COWTOWN by TEXAS WATER
James Michael Taylor
FANNIN COUNTY FAIR
Fannin county fair. Red River rhymes and riddles
And the Bois d’ arc spread beneath the harvest moon
There I found her, and I crowned her
Queen of the Fannin County Fair
I told her I’d be rich. I told her I’d be famous
And I told her I just wanted to hold her
And she told me that she feared she couldn’t hold me
But she holds me, like the river holds the sky
And like beauty holds the eye of the beholder
Fannie County Fair.
You know that she still lives there
She married some small-town boy
I tell myself that I don’t care
And maybe they’ve got a baby
I don’t know. She never wrote me
But she holds me, like the river holds the sky
And like beauty holds the eye of the beholder
Fannie County Fair. my Fannie County Fair.

Rick Babb and I were up at Barbara’s dad’s property doing hay. Went into town to get parts for the wind rower and stopped at Dairy Queen. Served by a girl in a colorful striped sweater. Actually, I told her that I was going to be featured on a KZOO radio program called HOME GROWN.
