MARIAN'S SONG 050311 - NO MAN'S LAND
James Michael Taylor
Marian is my favorite fiddle player after Itzhak Perlman. She and I wrote this song about her feeling of her Dad’s presence when she plays and people listen.
MARION’S SONG
A puff of smoke when her violin broke
A look that just said, “I’m not here.”
But I’ll be back soon at the cry of the loon
And the feeling my Daddy’s here
I can’t see him. I can’t hear him
Time is deadly. Time is fast
I’m a loner. ‘Can’t take me homer.
Buy the Future. Sell the Past.
A puff of smoke from her violin bow
A look that just says, “I’m right here.”
Angels and Time. Balance and Rhyme
But in time, Time will pass
She can see him. She can hear him
Time is lazy. Time is past
Time’s a groaner. Time has no owner
But in time, Time will pass
Time is meddlesome and cruel
Time is not bound by the Golden Rule
A puff of smoke when her violin broke
A look that just says, “I’m not here.”
But I’ll be back soon at the cry of the loon…
