NIGHT TIME DREAMS 1990 - COWTOWN by TEXAS WATER
James Michael Taylor
I wrote this one lonely afternoon in San Anselmo, California at my friend, Eric’s house. Missing Peggy.
NIGHT TIME DREAMS
It’s a long way to Texas. Further to Tennessee
I’m out here in California with nobody but me
So, I’m thinkin’ about leaving
Leaving twice will get me home
I wake up at the sunrise
Clear and sunny days are much too long
I see you in my night time dreams
and I wake up to the day and you are gone
Wishing for a thunderhead
Lightning shower to clear my head
Hurricane to raise the dead
Locus singing in the trees
Abilene is in the breeze
Carry me back home with ease
The winds are returning
I’ll be catching one today
Drifting in from off the ocean
They are blowing me away
Disappearing like that night time mist
That’s burning off that San Francisco Bay
CHORUS
It’s a long way to Texas. Farther to Tennessee
I’m out here on the highway with nobody but me
Out here in my night time dreams I feel you coming closer to me
Out here in my night time dreams, you’re closer to me
Out here in my night time dreams, my night time dreams
my night time dreams
