SEQUOIA MEMORIES 121411 - TWENTY FOUR HOURS

Off the coast of California where the dolphins jump the waves
We stood and watched them from the cliffs above
Until the sunlight went away

Then we slept in the ancient shadows underneath the redwood trees

And now the warmth we shared so freely is just SEQUOIA MEMORIES

Those old trees might live forever. We know our life is short
Why must love be so much shorter and all the dreams that love supports
And I stand here by the river and I wonder what went wrong
And the best that I can do is try to catch a glimpse of you

*Now I’m alone and I accept we had to part
But my state of mind tells a different story to my heart

Our stories might be different but our states of mind the same
Yours could be of Oklahoma. Maybe Kansas is to blame
Or a girl in Indiana. Maybe a boy out on the coast
But the girl in New York City is the one you think about the most…*
