WHEN PEGGY COMES HOME 121411 TWENTY FOUR HOURS
James Michael Taylor
Peggy left in the winter of 2007.
Seems like yesterday. I dream of her
so often it seems that she is still
around here somewhere.
When Peggy comes home I’ll have the dishes put away
The floors will be swept and all the bills will be paid
When Peggy comes home there’ll be a “Welcome” at the door
M & Ms under her pillow and a shiny kitchen floor
When Peggy comes home I’ll put the smile back on my face
When Peggy comes home I’ll rejoin the human race
When Peggy comes home I’ll be glad that I’m a man
When Peggy comes home I will remember who I am
When Peggy comes home the refrigerator will be clean
The stove will be spotless and all her ferns will be green
But that might take a while. I’m having trouble getting dressed
And I don’t want Peggy coming home til I get back at my best
When Peggy comes home I’ll be as busy as a bee
When Peggy comes home I’ll have a future I can see
