WHO 121411 SUNDAY AFTERNOON
James Michael Taylor
WHO
I look. I see. I empty me into a smoke-filled room
I play. I sing out everything, ‘til all that’s left is gloom
I smile. I laugh. I show that half, I please them every night
But who will be the one for me. Who’ll sing for me tonight?
And who will be the one for me? Who’ll be with me tonight?
They look. They see. They empty me and then they pay and leave
They go. They know it was just a show and they do not believe
I laugh. I joke. I breathe their smoke. Their knots I do untie
But who will be the show for me. Who’ll untie me tonight?
And who will be the one for me. Who’ll be with me tonight
I’ll walk. I’ll sing. I’ll do anything to pass the time of night
I eat. I read. Then I succeed, then I turn out the light
I hear a song that touches me, then I break down and cry
And who’ll be the one for me. See thru me when I lie
And who will be the one for me and hold me when I cry
