Kenny was 18 when he went to Vietnam. He was allegedly killed in one of the bloodiest battles of the war. His family was told that his body was vaporized by artillery. Eighteen years later it came to light that the military knew that he was likely captured and being held in captivity. His sister spent the rest of her life trying to find the truth about what happened to him. She finally accepted remains that were provided by the military, even though she knew it may not be Kenny because she was dying of cancer. She said, “if it’s not him, then another marine will have a good home”. She never made the final ceremony… she died the very hour it took place.
