I had been choosing songs to perform during communion in my church’s Sunday services. One Saturday night I was having trouble finding a song that had the themes that I wanted to address, so I wrote one.

It started with a wedding
And with a wedding it will end
It finished with a cup
And with a cup it will begin

Are you thirsty?
Drink of me
Are you hungry?
Eat of me

She asked about living water
And I told her it was me
She ran to tell her neighbors
And they all came by to see

Will you leave me too?
Will you remember me?
Remember me.
I won’t drink of this wine till that day.
In my father’s kingdom I will drink with you
On that day.
