Dead Birds (It Won't Work)
Liam Sanders
One of the first songs I wrote. A favourite with a few of my fans/friends.
A song about trust, respect and apparent lack thereof.
The morning holds echoes of the night before
Broken glasses and hearts clutter your floor
As you trawl through the mess and endless debris
Your bed isn’t as empty as it should be
You told him he was just a temporary thing
We we sorted it out you continued the fling
Being dragged away like a pig from a feast
Maybe you were just too young and naÃve
Why act grown up when you’re still a child
You didn’t deserve it but I didn’t mind
Putting my sanity on the line
First time I’ve cried in a dream in my life
And it seems you were right and I just didn’t listen
Those subtle three words that fall like dead birds
and hit the ground without a sound
I’ve tried and I’ve tried but I just can’t comply
With all of logic it sounds more like bollocks
You come here too often and hound me with problems
I’m sick of your eyes and your thighs and your lies
